Autumn has always been my favorite time of year. The light turns everything a golden hue. Here in Southwestern New Mexico, the sky is that amazing azure. After the monsoon season ends around the end of September, the skies are crystal clear. At night you can see the Milky Way, Jupiter, the Big Dipper and all our other celestial neighbors. The stately cottonwoods are donning their glorious golden cloak and the prickly pear shows off her jeweled ruby fruit.

I spent many an autumn day in the woods of New England. And it is true, there is nothing more resplendent than the brilliant russets, scarlets, and saffron hued foliage.

From the beginning of time, autumn has been a time of thanksgiving and celebration. A call to  celebrate a good harvest, celebrate the young ones, born in the dead of winter and now toddling among the dancing legs of their family. Attired in autumnal shades of Orange, Dark Red, Yellow, Indigo, and Brown, young and old joined in the dance to honor the Corn King, Lord of the Harvest, and the Goddess, manifested in Her Bountiful Mother aspects.
